Kevin Boyle was born and raised in a row home in Olney by his parents, Frank and Eileen Boyle. The embodiment of the American Dream, and like so many working class families of Northeast Philadelphia, Frank and Eileen worked hard and scarified for their children. Frank, an Irish immigrant, spent 25 years as a warehouse worker for ACME and when they shipped his job out of the region, he joined SEPTA where he has been a janitor for the past 13 years. Eileen worked her entire life as a school crossing guard right outside of St. Helena’s, the school that Kevin and his brother Brendan attended in their youth. Kevin is also a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, La Salle University and Harvard University. Kevin is married to Caitlyn, a Philadelphia teacher, and they welcomed their daughter, Keira, in 2014.
After earning his master’s, Kevin served as Legislative Director for a Philadelphia councilmember, where he was instrumental in developing legislation to require paid sick leave for working families, as well as legislation to protect victims of domestic violence in the workplace.
In 2010, Kevin was elected as state Representative for the 172nd district in the Northeast, becoming the first Democrat to hold that seat in over three decades. During his time in office, Kevin has fought against Republican education cuts that put teachers out of work and our students at an unfair disadvantage. He has battled to ensure that our Commonwealth pays for our children’s education, NOT our local governments and residents though endless property tax increases. He has introduced legislation to make college more affordable and accessible for Pennsylvania students, and has consistently stood behind our police, firefighters and other first responders who protect our neighborhoods and families.
He has been one of organized labors’ strongest allies and an outspoken proponent for equality. Kevin has dedicated his entire professional life to making sure that the Northeast remains the best place in the city to live, work and raise a family.
As your state Representative, Kevin sees an opportunity to continue to better lobby for the causes he has committed his entire life to, and he will continue to fight for all Pennsylvanians.
